Asterism Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the Asterism mobile game ("Asterism", "the app") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Asterism is made by NitroEdge Studios LLC ("NitroEdge", "we", "us").
If you have questions, contact us at support@nitroedgestudios.com.
The short version
- You don't create an account. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, location, camera or microphone.
- Your game progress, settings and stardust are stored only on your device.
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob. Ads are personalized only where you have allowed it.
- If you play while online, your leaderboard name and how many puzzles you solved that day appear on a public daily leaderboard. You choose the name.
- We use Google Firebase to run the leaderboard, understand crashes and see how the game is played.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Information the app collects
Stored only on your device
Your level progress, settings, stardust balance, daily reward streak and puzzle statistics are saved on your phone. They are not sent to us. If you delete the app, this data is deleted too.
Daily leaderboard (Google Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore)
When you play while online, the app signs in to Firebase anonymously. This creates a random player ID that isn't connected to your name, email or phone number. The app uses that ID to store one leaderboard entry per day containing:
- your leaderboard display name (by default something like "Stargazer 1234"; you can change it in the app);
- the number of puzzles you solved that day;
- the time it was last updated.
Your display name and solved count are visible to everyone on that day's leaderboard, so don't use your real name unless you want it shown. Offensive names are blocked. Each day's entries are deleted automatically 30 days after that day ends.
Some names on the leaderboard are computer-controlled rivals. They are labelled "AI" in the app and are not real players.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
Asterism is free and supported by ads. Google AdMob may collect:
- your device's advertising identifier: the Google advertising ID on Android, or on iPhone the IDFA, only if you allow tracking;
- device information such as model, operating system, language and IP address;
- information about ad views, clicks and the ads shown to you.
Google uses this to deliver ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and prevent fraud. Ads are personalized only where you have given consent (see "Your choices" below); otherwise you see non-personalized ads. Learn how Google uses this information:
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Crash reports and analytics (Google Firebase Crashlytics, Analytics and Remote Config)
To fix problems and improve the game, the app sends:
- crash reports: technical details about the crash, the device model and operating system, and an installation identifier;
- usage analytics: events such as starting or finishing a level and using a hint, along with device type, app version, country and an app instance identifier;
- configuration checks: the app asks Firebase Remote Config for updated game settings, such as reward amounts.
This information is not linked to your name or contact details, and we don't use it to identify you. Learn more: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Purchases (Apple App Store and Google Play)
In-app purchases (Remove Ads and stardust packs) are processed entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your payment card or billing details. The app only learns which product was purchased so it can deliver it.
What we don't collect
We don't collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, files, camera or microphone data. Asterism has no chat or messaging between players.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
- run the daily leaderboard;
- show ads that keep the game free;
- find and fix crashes and bugs;
- understand which parts of the game players enjoy, so we can improve it;
- deliver in-app purchases.
Sharing
We share information only with the service providers listed above (Google AdMob, Google Firebase, Apple and Google Play), which process it to provide their services. Your leaderboard display name and daily solved count are public on the leaderboard. We may also disclose information if required by law. We do not sell your personal information.
Your choices
- Ad consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland): before personalized ads are shown, you'll see a consent form from Google. You can change your choice any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices in the app.
- US state privacy rights: if you live in a US state with consumer privacy laws, using data for personalized ads may count as “sharing” under those laws. You can opt out at any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices in the app.
- iPhone tracking: Asterism asks for permission before using your IDFA for ads. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", you'll see non-personalized ads. You can change this in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android advertising ID: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's Google or privacy settings.
- Remove Ads: the Remove Ads purchase stops ads between levels. Optional reward videos stay available if you choose to watch them.
- Leaderboard name: you can change your display name any time from the leaderboard screen.
Keeping and deleting your information
- Data on your device is deleted when you uninstall the app.
- Leaderboard entries are deleted automatically 30 days after the day they belong to.
- Crash reports, analytics and advertising data are kept by Google according to its own retention settings.
- To have your leaderboard entries deleted sooner, email support@nitroedgestudios.com with your leaderboard display name and the day(s) you played. Because we don't collect contact details, we can't otherwise tell which entries are yours.
Children
Asterism is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through the app, contact us and we will delete it.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, email support@nitroedgestudios.com. We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.
International transfers
Google processes data on servers that may be located outside your country, including in the United States, under its own safeguards for international transfers.
Security
Leaderboard data is protected by Firebase security rules that only let a player change their own entry. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect the information we hold.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
